Google Snake 2: Is There a Sequel?
Search interest in “Google Snake 2” is real — but Google has never released a sequel. The phrase usually means one of three different things. Here is each one, and where to actually play it.
1. The sequel that does exist: Nokia’s Snake II
The only famous official “snake 2” is Snake II, which Nokia shipped on phones like the 3310 in 2000. It added the features people now assume snake always had: wrap-through openings in the walls, bonus items, and mazes. If that is the nostalgia you are chasing, our Nokia snake mode recreates the steady 3310 pace, and the full story is in the Nokia 3310 snake story.
2. “The new version” of Google’s game
Google’s snake has been updated quietly over the years — new themes, settings and seasonal touches — so players sometimes call the current game “snake 2” to distinguish it from the one they remember. There is no separate app or address, though: it is the same Easter egg at the same place, searched the same way. What does expand it dramatically is the community mod menu, covered in our mods guide.
3. Two-player and multiplayer snake
Google’s game is strictly single-player — there is no official 2-player mode. When people want to play snake against someone, what they are really looking for is the io genre: arena games like Slither.io and Snake.io where dozens of snakes compete live. We compare them properly in Google Snake vs Snake.io and Slither.io.
The practical answer
If “snake 2” to you means “snake, but more” — more boards, more speeds, more rules — that is exactly what this site is: twelve distinct snake games, from a forgiving zen mode to a brutal hard mode, each with its own saved high score. Start with the headline board — play the snake game free online.
