How to Play the Google Snake Game
Google has a snake game hidden right inside its search results, and it is one of the most-played versions of the game in the world. Here is what it is, how to find it, and how it differs from the classic arcade snake.
What is the Google snake game?
It is a browser version of snake that Google added to its search engine. It is clean, quick to load, and free, which is exactly why it became so popular for short breaks. Its most notable feature is wrap-around walls: instead of dying when you hit an edge, the snake passes through and reappears on the opposite side.
How to open it
- Open Google and search for snake game or play snake.
- Look for the game card at the top of the results with a Play button.
- Press Play, choose your controls, and start moving with the arrow keys or by swiping on mobile.

How wrap-around changes the game
Because the edges are no longer deadly, you almost never lose to a wall. That sounds easier, and staying alive is easier — but there is a catch. Longer survival means a much longer snake, and a long snake is far more likely to run into itself. The whole challenge shifts to managing your own tail.
Tips for high scores in wrap-around snake
- Think of the board as a loop. Exiting the right edge to re-enter the left can be a genuine shortcut.
- Keep your body in tidy rows so you always know where the tail is.
- When the snake gets long, follow your tail and wait for open space before diving for food.
